NORTH-SOUTH  BASKETBALL  TEAMS  NAMED

MONTGOMERY - Sixty outstanding junior basketball players from all over the
state have been named to the North-South teams for the seventh annual
Alabama All-Star Sports Week in Montgomery July 14-19, according to an
announcement by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches
Association.

The two girls teams and two boys teams will square off in a Thursday (July
17) doubleheader beginning with the girls tip-off at
6 p.m.
at the Auburn
University-Montgomery Physical Education Complex. The boys contest begins
at
8 p.m.


Sports Week, which also includes in-state all-star games in volleyball,
baseball, football and softball, will feature clinics and special sessions
for coaches, athletic directors, cheerleader coaches and officials. A
product exposition and other related activities are scheduled throughout
the week.
The Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association
operates under the auspices of the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
Membership includes coaches of all AHSAA sports as well as administrators
of member schools.

The coaches for the NORTH GIRLS team are Heath Thrash of Sylvania and John
Blackwell of Glencoe.

Members of the North girls team are Latoya Barclay of Sparkman, Fredreka
Burrell of Ramsay, Brittany Godsey and Emily Mason of Lauderdale County,
Maria Grimes of Clay-Chalkville, India Hackman of Sulligent, Brooke Hand
of Lawrence County, Maurielle Ingram of Deshler; Haley Lewey of Red Bay,

Christina Malone and India Wood of Athens; Starr Orr of Speake, Odessa Person

of Lineville, Mamie Rutherford of Hatton, and Jessica Thompson of Brewer.

Coaching the SOUTH GIRLS team are Shana Johnson of Notasulga and Darryl
Brooks of Abbeville.

On the South girls roster are Shequita Odom of Flomaton, Reba Ross of
Barbour County, Hillary Barnes of St. James, Shequita Holt of Ashford,
Zsaquez Flucker of Abbeville, Psyche Bess of Samson, Laura Davis of
Daphne, Ashley Samuel of T. R. Miller; Veronica Jackson of B. T. Washington,

Karmeshia Easley of LeFlore, Ivey Turner of Dothan, Charity Fulker of Vigor,

Chaurice Hart of Notasulga, Jessica Wooten of Eufaula, and Takesha Harris of

Livingston.

Alvin Moore of Carver-Birmingham is coach of the NORTH BOYS. The other
member of the staff has not been named.

North boys team members are Ronald Steele and DeMarre' Carroll of John
Carroll, Jonathan Wallace of Sparkman, Marcus Jones of J. O. Johnson,
Quinn Beckwith of Deshler, Tyler Markham of Marion County, Walter Sharpe and
Rodrigus Smitherman of Parker; Will Ginn of Alexandria, Chad Malone of Tanner,

Thomas Morris of Buckhorn, Terrance Spralling of Winfield, Brandon Davis and Glenn

Miles of West End-Birmingham, and D. J. White of Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.
